In an era that is flooded with energy drinks and supplements it is no secret that our fast-pace lifestyle has left our energy tank on empty a majority of the time. While it can be an easy “quick-fix” to reach in that gas station refrigerator for a can of the latest energy craze, keep in mind what that can is really costing you. Recent finding have found that energy drinks can have detrimental side-effects including: caffeine overdose, type 2 diabetes, neurological effects, miscarriages, and ironically, given the marketing ploy to boost energy for workouts, obesity. So why do so many people continue to use something that is so harmful to their bodies? Maybe it’s a lack of education, product knowledge or a convenience factor.
